The Adoption files
Here I want to take the opportunity to share a few words on The Adoption Files. A series that will run parallel to the L'Abstract and Not a Manual series.
Muse
Until a decade ago I didn’t know much about international adoption. About the background and what it meant for adoptees. Slowly fragments of stories started coming through. And then I met that very special person who opened up her book. My muse for this entire series. She shared her story of trauma, emotions and a whole lot of questions. Of which probably most will remain unanswered. And often the answers given, raise more questions.
Naturally there are many ‘subtopics’. That won’t be discussed so much here and now. But more through the pieces shared in this special collection.
Personal
Of course the work you make and possibly release as an artist is personal. But there are various levels of personal. As mentioned in my bio I have a deep interest in Healing Arts. Within that broader Why, there are specific fields that are even closer to me: Transgenerational trauma, Self-healing ability, Freedom. And yes, The Adoption files is an exceptional level of personal.
Some images will be delicate, some will be raw. The words added to the series tell more about its growth and intention:
“A delicate series casting light on the reality of adoption. Close. Personal. This small series will grow at a slower pace. As capturing vulnerable conversations should not be rushed, nor pushed”
Di-scar’ded
This is the first piece minted in the series and is called Di-scar’ded.
Description: “Where do I begin to heal, when I am wounded from the start?”
